[Action/Written, 7/18] Homesick

[Kitten has been trying to keep busy, but she's bored.

And when she gets bored, she has time to be angry. It's best to avoid that. Dragons hate captivity, and Kitten is no exception to the rule. She has seen her fill of politics, understands a fair amount from the guide and monitoring other people's journal entries, and is well aware that outside the enclosure is no better than in it. That doesn't make it chafe any less, though. The dragon finds an out of the way corner of the village and takes her frustration out on air and rocks, breathing fire and practicing some of her spells. A small section of rock is turned to gravel by the time she's through with it.

She picks through the gravel, pulling out any particularly interesting stones. They serve as a neat distraction from the fact of her captivity, so Kitten takes them and heads back to the fountain in the village center to settle in for the rest of the morning and experiment with spells on stone. The stones may be hot, or lighting up, or levitating; Kitten doesn't mind interruptions from passerby. She found one or two stones she hasn't seen at home, and she'd like to try magic before looking them up.

She stops by Seventh Heaven for lunch, eager for something to eat after a morning of magical exertion. Kitten does like good food.

After lunch, she does stop by the library for some geology texts before heading home to House 44 and proceeding to either make herself useful or make a nuisance of herself, depending on the perspective of anyone else involved. Kitten doesn't ask before whistling the wrinkles out of clothes or heating water for tea.

Once she's back in her own room, Kitten writes out song lyrics for Saori on another piece of paper before she reaches for the journal. She writes there too.]

Are you certain that time stops at home? My family is not here. I don't want to miss too much.

[She is, after all, an Immortal with a mortal family. Kitten will outlive her adoptive parents, her sister and brother, their children, and so on for generations unless she is killed. The idea of losing time with them, maybe years of time, is the nastiest thought she's had so far. Their lives are so short to begin with. Kitten is still only a baby, and by the time they reach her age her brother and sister may well be married.

It's been over two months now. She is a child and impatient, for all her immortality. Kitten wants her mama and papa, or at least some idea of when she can have them back.]

From my experience, time had been stopped while I was here. It should be the same for everyone, right?

[Makie hasn't had much in the way of deep conversations with Kitten, on account of being such a withdrawn antisocial personality. Not to mention as the weeks have gone by and her coughing has grown worse, she's spent more and more time in her room.

Not to mention: dragon. Uh. Yes.

That won't stop her from giving Kitten a wan smile as she meets her on the way into the kitchen when she returns home.]

[It isn’t exactly the floating/freezing/fiery rocks that get Zatanna’s attention, although those are impressive. They probably would’ve interested her more if the source for all that magic hadn’t happened to be a dragon, which is easily the coolest thing Zatanna’s seen today.]

Oh wow. [Of course, she’s not entirely sure how to talk to dragons. She’s just a magician who hangs out with superheroes.] Uh. I mean, hey.

Saori was having the most wonderful day. Doing something as absolutely mundane as ironing her and Yuuna's laundry, of all things. It's really nice, having her partner here, and the domestic nature of the act just serves to make her feel more comfortable than she had in a long time. She's just sitting there, taking care of that when there's a whistle...and suddenly the clothes are just...straight!

Looking around, she spots the little dragon.

"Did you do that, Skysong?"

[Grune has been working in the memory garden all morning--well, sort of. Every so often, she loses her train of thought and forgets what she was doing, meaning she gets up, wanders away...and then wanders back and more or less returns to what she had been doing. It's not exactly the most efficient way to garden, but Grune acts as though she has all the time in the world, so at least she doesn't seem to mind.

It's during one of these lapses that she ends up getting as far as the fountain, and there she notices that things are getting rather interesting. She looks about to see who's responsible for that rock levitating around nose-level and spots an adorable little dragon. Instantly, she beams at her.]

Hello there! Are you using eres?

[She means magic--the vocabulary it's a little different on her world, and she always forgets that it's not universal.]

[ Tenten notices the debris and sudden arrival of one Zen Buddhist Garden! The slightly straggled pebbles catch her interest. ]

Hmm.. I wonder what's going on here! [ Tenten's curiosity gets the best of her as she paces around and spots the dragon. ] Do you know anything about this?

[Ah, the age old question of time. Dash takes a few seconds to mull over a response before she leans over her journal with a shrug.]

Well, seeing how my friends popped up from my future and didn't remember me leaving, I'd say it stops. I mean, they'd notice if I vanished for more than a year. Kinda hard to miss a pony this awesome.

[Loki has gone to the fountain to read, but instead it seems he's to get a little magic demonstration. He observes keenly, not interrupting while she's practicing.

A magic user, and a dragon. Fascinating. At least she's not nearly large enough to try to eat him if she gets annoyed.]
